ESL Curriculum
The ESL curriculum in Milwaukee Public Schools uses the Common Core State Standards. The Common Core State Standards provide an outline for what students need to know and be able to do in literacy and mathematics. These standards ensure all students will gain academic knowledge to succeed, fostering critical thinking skills and independence.
We also utilize WIDA English Language Development Standards. The WIDA English Language Development Standards represent a social, instruction, and academic language that students need to engage with peers, educators, and the curriculum in schools. These standards guide our instruction and provide a general overview of student language proficiency levels.
